PEDAL POWER GRID TIE SYSTEM You can use a grid tie inverter with any type of pedal power generator including the belt type, roller type, stationary exercise spin bike, and hand crank type. Just request a quote for the configuration you want to use. The data below shows actual pedal power output flowing from the spin spin bike generator into the grid tie inverter. You can see that at one point the rider was putting out a max power of 240 Watts. NOTE: The grid tie inverter is about 90% efficient so 100 Watts going into it yields about 90 Watts of power going onto the grid. FYI: The spin spin bike rider is a 40 year old man who works out 2 to 3 times a week. It shows you recorded Watts over a 10 minute period. Details for the Xantrex 1,500 Power Pack are shown below. The "PP6" option includes a 12V Duracell powerpack with your system. It has a 28 Amp-Hour lead acid - AGM battery. The enclosed battery is sealed and non spillable. It can be shipped through the mail with no worries. It will take you about 4 to 6 hours to charge this Duracell powerpack with the pedal power bicycle . This powerpack has a built in AM/FM radio, flashlight, AC 110V AC inverter, and car jumper cables making it great to have in an emergency. If you want a bigger powerpack, then you could use the Xantrex 1,500 Watt roll around system available for $600. This has a 58 Amp Hour Batter in side of it. No radio, no flash light, no battery cables. Details for the Xantrex 1,500 Power Pack are shown below. There other powerpacks that are cheaper and of less quality and less features. If you really want to go cheap - just order a 12V scooter battery and hook it up through a fuse to your bicycle generator. You are responsible for following electrical code. |
XANTREX 1,500 Portable Powerpack
Technical Details
The XPower Powerpack 1500 is a portable power system that produces household electricity for products rated at 1500 watts or less. A clean and quiet alternative to a generator, the XPower Powerpack integrates a 60 Amp/hour AGM battery with a 1500-watt inverter and produces a 3000-watt surge. This system is built to run a range of appliances such as a standard size refrigerator and microwave oven, and office equipment such as a computer, monitor, and fax machine. The XPower Powerpack 1500 is designed for ultimate portability.

A convenient design feature
allows for easy set-up of the cart. The XPower
Powerpack 1500 consists of a battery pack that stores
electrical energy, state-of-the-art electronics that convert
12 volts from the battery pack to household power, an AC
power panel that contains two standard outlets, and a DC
power panel that is used to run 12 volt products. These
components are packaged into a rugged "cart" with a
removable waist handle that allows XPower Powerpack 1500 to
be wheeled from room-to-room or outdoors over rough terrain. An excellent alternative to a generator, the XPower Powerpack produces no noise or fumes and has no moving parts. With the accessories provided, you can easily recharge the XPower Powerpack using standard utility power from your wall outlet, your vehicle, or from a solar panel. The
XPower Powerpack features a built-in 1500 watt inverter and
sealed, non-spillable 60 Amp-hour AGM battery. Dual AC
outlets allow operation of multiple products, and a built-in
battery level indicator confirms the charge level. A high
surge protection and automatic over-temperature and overload
shutdown keeps the Powerpack running safely and efficiently,
while a low voltage alarm and shutdown prevents deep battery
discharge. You can recharge the Powerpack from home (up to
15 hours), or your vehicle (6 to 8 hours). A padded grip
towing handle removes easily for storage in tight places,
and built-in handles on sides allow for easy lifting.
