Energy Curriculum
We have developed a high level classroom curriculum that can be adapted for alternative energy with Pedal Power bike generators.
These lessons can be taught in any order. If you would like to suggest other lesson ideas, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Additional information is available if you would like to use an Arduino to make a power monitor that is equivalent in function to the WattsVIEW power monitor. This is would be used to show students how much energy is being generated from the output of their bike generator. Contact us for more information.
-
Students get a chance to ride a pedal power bicycle generator and see how many Watts, Volts, Amps they can put out using WattsVIEWTM software. MORE
-
Students learn how to use a plug in the wall power meter with the permission and supervision of an adult. MORE
-
Students learn how to use a plug in the wall power meter with the permission and supervision of an adult. They take one home and conduct a power survey of various electrical appliance items through out their home such as washing machine, hair dryer, refrigerator, television. MORE
-
Students learn how to make sense of their power meter, and correlate data they've observed from their power meter readings done in the previous lab curriculum activity . They formulate a "power budget" showing what electrical appliances in the home are consuming energy. MORE
-
Students learn to use simple alternative solar pedal power energy calculations to predict how long a DVD movie will play when powered by a Bicycle Generator Pedal Powered lead acid deep cycle battery Powerpack. MORE
-
Students will build upon concepts learned in lesson 4 by predicting effects of adding a solar panel to a 12V DC Powerpack inverter whilst it is delivering power to a DVD movie. MORE
